The Light House is both a facility and a program. Physically located in a new 24,000 square foot facility in Annapolis, Maryland, it provides emergency shelter and transitional housing for individuals and families who are homeless as well as permanent supportive housing for women. They offer life-changing programs through a case management centered model that includes, counseling and referral services, basic life skills, and wellness and job training programs that help clients reclaim hope and independence in their lives.
Our Fraternity supports the Light House mission in Annapolis Maryland in many ways:
- Each month, about 10 Fraternity members and friends from our local neighborhood of Annapolis gather at a church or a member’s home to make 100 bag lunches to donate. These include sandwiches, breakfast bars, fruit cups, trail mix and water bottles. The lunches are provided to Light House residents as they leave the shelter for work each day.
- Periodically, approximately 20 members and friends prepare, cook and help serve a full hot dinner at the shelter for all residents.
- Other members bring to the monthly fraternity meetings food such as cereal, juice and fruit for the shelter pantry, as well as monetary donations to purchase Annapolis-area bus tokens which are invaluable to shelter residents who travel to and from work.
